Good morning all, Bore da
pawb!
For Day 12 *new Psalm reading
in the exercise below*
In this time of self isolation,
lockdown and quarantine, I think that man of us are developing a new found appreciation
for the beauty of creation. Whether it be hearing the birdsong normally masked
by the noise of traffic, or breathing the far cleaner air during our mandated
exercise sessions, or maybe seeing the goats of the Orme eating your petunias in
your front garden. Creation and nature are more important to us than ever.
This morning then I wish to share
with you a reflective piece of creative writing on the Creation story which is
found at the beginning of Genesis.
In the beginning
Jesus was with God and Jesus was God.
God imagined,
Jesus spoke and the Holy Spirit moved and created a speck, smaller than a grain
of sand, smaller than an atom, even smaller than an electron, a speck
containing the infinite possibilities, this was the first stage of creation and
God saw that it was good.
God imagined,
Jesus spoke and the Holy Spirit moved and the speck, infinitely small,
infinitely hot, exploded and expanded, creation spilled out, spiralled out,
played out. Matter from the immaterial, this was the second stage of creation
and God saw that it was good.
God imagined,
Jesus spoke and the Holy Spirit moved and the matter began to coalesce,
condensing, taking shape, forming like clay in the hands of the craftsmen. The
first stars formed and as the gas clouds contracted under their own gravity,
they grew hotter and exploded scattering their new elements across the
universe, forming new clouds and then new stars, this was the third stage of
creation and God saw that it was good.
God imagined,
Jesus spoke and the Holy Spirit moved and gas clouds collapse under their own
gravity and begin to rotate, the centre of the forming discs getting hotter and
forming stars, the outer parts of the disc cooling and condensing to slowly
form planets. Among all of these systems God saw the one that was just right,
the one that would be the cradle of life. This was the fourth stage of creation
and God saw that it was good.
God imagined,
Jesus spoke and the Holy Spirit moved and one planet came to rest in an orbit
just the right distance from the sun and just the right size and just the right
collection of elements. This third rock out from this little yellow sun began
to cool and water began to form on its surface. The building blocks of life
gathered on this primordial womb planet. This was the fifth stage of creation
and God saw that it was good.
God imagined,
Jesus spoke and the Holy Spirit moved and lightning flashed, radiation shone,
organic molecules came together, life appeared, life grew, life changed, life
became and then the life
God had waited
billions of years for, life in which to make his image. Life in which to
breathe a soul, a human life, a being born of stardust, created by God. This
was the sixth stage of creation and God saw that it was very good.
God reflected,
Jesus readied himself and the Holy Spirit waited and all rested from the work
of creation and called this seventh stage holy. And mankind saw that God was
good

MORNING
Wake, but do not move to begin
with. Be aware of yourself, the air going in and out of your lungs, be aware of
your senses and what they are telling you, feel the aches and pains of life
that were dulled a bit by rest.
Give thanks, because all you feel
means you are alive, the world is better for you being in it.
Take a moment to think of ONE
positive thing you will try to do today.
Psalm 34:1-3 (Read through
slowly 3 times)
I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
BREAKFAST
As you make your breakfast, be
mindful of each thing you do as you do it. Be fully present.
As you consume your breakfast

LUNCH
Pause. Sit. Breathe. You are
still here.
Follow the same routine of
mindfulness and thanks as at breakfast.
DINNER/TEA
Same as for lunch
EVENING BEFORE SLEEP
Be aware of yourself, the air
going in and out of your lungs, be aware of your senses and what they are
telling you, feel the aches and pains of life that will be dulled a bit by
rest.
Give thanks, because all you feel
means you are alive and have lived, the world is better for you being in it.
Thanks be to God.
Amen
